From our founder:
I remember reading somewhere that in some ancient cultures, women (and specifically mothers) were regarded as the higher gender. I’m going to use Ai to find some facts: hold on.
Here’s the prompt I gave Chat GPT: give me a bullet point list on historically female gender and mother honoring cultures.
Here’s what it came up with:
Egypt
- Mothers were deeply respected within family and spiritual life
- Goddesses like Isis symbolized motherhood, protection, and healing
Haudenosaunee Confederacy (Iroquois)
- Clan mothers held authority in leadership and family structure
- Lineage and inheritance flowed through the mother’s side
India
- The feminine and maternal were honored through goddess traditions
- Durga and Lakshmi were viewed as nurturing and protective forces
Minangkabau
- Women and mothers were central to inheritance and family identity
- Homes and land traditionally passed through daughters
West African Kingdom of Dahomey
- Women played major roles in governance and community leadership
- Motherhood was connected to strength, continuity, and social stability
Greece
- Fertility and motherhood were honored through goddesses like Demeter
- Agricultural cycles and maternal care were spiritually linked
I understand that I’m experiencing the world through my own lens - a lens that has been very diluted by golf - and not everyone will see things my way, but, I think we need to honor our society's mothers a little more.
So back to the subject of this email: Who’s your mommy?
I want to use MNML GOLF to amplify your voice. We don’t have a bazillion followers but we do reach quite a few people (about 4 million a month) and I want to put that reach to work for all the mothers out there.
So here’s the “prompt” for you:
- Make an instagram post with some text about the mom(s) in your life
- Tag the mom(s) if they have social media
- Tag @MNMLGOLF
If you have a golf related picture or story, that’s great, but not necessary. It’s more about the mom than the golf.
We’ll share every single one of them.
Let’s team up and give the moms of our lives the honor they deserve.
Oh and Mom, if you’re reading, I don’t say it enough, you’re the reason I’m living this life. You’re the reason I got into golf. You’re the reason MNML exists. MNML will help millions of people around the world and it all started with you. I love you.

A grateful son,
Sam Goulden
Ps. I used a little Ai to do a little research for this message. Ai makes mistakes. Forgive me if it’s not 100% accurate.
