"When I first learned about LIV GOLF I didn’t really have a reaction.
My golf fandom is limited primarily to the players we support. Oh and of course Tiger Woods.
So I just didn’t really react when LIV GOLF launched.
Years later, it feels like some of the early hype and disdain for all things LIV has somewhat faded.
But, I do feel I owe you an explanation.
We have gotten pretty close with our customers and fans over the years and it feels weird that anyone who loves MNML would find something we are doing to be out of character…
Maybe I’ve gotten ahead of myself.
It’s currently 8:15pm Friday, February 27th.
I’m writing this email from LAX International Airport.
Across from me are Campbell (ops) and Nicolle (creative + artist).
We are boarding a plane for Hong Kong in about two hours.
Upon arrival in HK, we will be heading straight to an art supplies store where Nicolle will grab paint, brushes, and other supplies.
Then we will be collecting four of our “inspired by Sergio Garcia” M TOUR bags that are being built (literally right now) in our factory.
Once we have the bags and supplies, we will circle back to the hotel where Nicolle will print templates, mix paint, and begin customizing the bags for Sergio and the rest of team Fireballs.
We have roughly 72 hours to get the supplies, bags, and get them painted for the team to use in competition Thursday through Sunday.
And now it may be more relevant for me to share how I feel about LIV GOLF.
It’s pretty simple really; Anyone using a golf bag made by MNML GOLF is using a bag made from recycled materials. They are using a bag that is better for the planet. And they are exposing our bags and our mission to others.
When I wrote our Manifesto 5 years ago, I said we wouldn’t partner with brands or players who weren’t aligned with our mission. But I also wrote that exposure from top players could have a huge impact on the number of people introduced to our brand, thus making it more likely that more MNML GOLF bags would be purchased in the place of other, non-environmentally friendly golf bags.
At the end of the day, we are very grateful for the opportunity to make golf bags for you, for our MNML GOLFERS, and for the top players in the world.
Whether you play at a 9-hole par three or on a top tier tour, you are supporting a greener future if you use a MNML GOLF bag.
I understand that as our audience grows, there will be more and more opposing views and opinions and I’m grateful that we hear from you guys when you have those feelings.
We will always share our feelings on any topic and I hope you always feel that you can share yours.
