Questioning Everything

Questioning Everything

From our founder:

Challenging the status quo takes questioning everything.

I just had a call with our factory to discuss the final sample of M TOUR.

I should just share the google doc with you..

Take a second to guess how many topics we discussed on our final sample. This is after three design calls - each with a revised mockup. So we’ve already ticked like 30 boxes.

The number is ten. And then this am, I revised two final things.

It’s crazy how much back and forth goes into designing a thing that has already existed for 100 years.

More specifically, a tour bag. Think about it. You watch the PGA TOUR and all those bags look the exact same.

Same size. Same pocket configuration. The only thing different is the corporate logos.

Ok yeah, I’ll just share the notes. Keep in mind, this is our fourth time meeting on this bag alone. We’ve already gone over like 30 other things in previous meetings.

  • Stitched into back of ball pocket
    • Inspired by Sergio Garcia
  • Rangefinder holder on both sides - needs to work
  • Make Belly pocket (highest quality magnet possible)
    • Interior slip pocket on the inside of belly pocket
      • 11.5” long, 6” deep
  • Remove Words “Rangefinder holder”
  • Rain Cover too bulky + Rain exposure
    • Need a thinner material so it fits in the side pocket of the bag
    • Top D-ring hole exposed to rain when the bag is laying on the ground, can we make a slit hole?
      • The strap easily unclips and the raincover goes over the D-Ring and then clip strap back on D Ring
  • Sunglasses: use an arm sleeve not a whole structured case
    • Sunglasses can be stored inside the clutch when totally not in use
  • Remove lines on side
  • Remove lines on water bottle pocket
  • Make double umbrella for player and caddy
  • Move filming pocket over to make room for double umbrella

Ok so here we are. All these notes (plus my two revisions this am) and we are finally ready to make six bags.

Oh and three color/brand changes throughout the last 8 months.

But that’s what it takes to make a better bag.

It takes questioning everything to come up with the best.

Curiously creating better bags,

- Sam Goulden
