From our founder:
It’s just irresponsible.
Spending $5k on flights to go halfway around the world with no certainty that we would actually succeed.
And if I knew how many things had to go right this week, I couldn’t have possibly risked it.
Had to make the flight - no delays
Had to get through customs with no issues
Had to get to the hotel with no Chinese
Had to find paint (nearly didn’t happen)
The bags had to arrive on time (nearly didn’t happen)
The paint had to dry in time for players to actually use them
And it wasn’t for us. It was for a team of professionals who didn’t know their bags were possibly not going to make it.
It was risky.
Way more risky than I knew.
And I wouldn’t risk it again.
But I’m so glad we did.
This week, we all grew. I grew up, Campbell grew up, Nicolle grew up, and MNML GOLF and all of you (yes you reading this right now) gained something.
We all gained visibility. But more than that, we gained trust from the best in the world.
You’ve been trusting in this mission for a while now. You’ve been donating your used bags.
You’ve shared the mission with friends.
You’ve become part of a movement.
And now, we can all feel a little better about our belief in a better way of doing business.
A company can survive without ads, discounts, and blow-out sales. It can survive on a mission of transparency. And it can thrive on a mission of supporting those who need it most.
I hope this feels as good to you as it does to the team here in Hong Kong, painting a last minute bag for the president of Hong Kong Golf Club, who will use it in an auction to support underserved youth in and around the area.
Together, we are proving there’s a better way of doing business.
Thanks for being a part of the mission.
Exhausted yet energized,
Sam Goulden
