Tour Players

Making bags for the best players in the world is in our DNA. Paid endorsements and free products are not.

When we first started talking with Sergio about making bags for their team (The Fireballs) to be used on LIV Tour, we were excited - to say the least. 

And getting to work 1-1 with Sergio on the product design, development, and ultimately traveling to Hong Kong to hand-paint the bags with Spain inspired artwork, that was the opportunity and trip of a lifetime. 

You may know this already but it’s worth mentioning, we have a “no free bags” policy. 

That standard is something we set to ensure that players are using our bags because they want to, not because they are free.

So, the hand-painted Fireballs bags were no exception.  

And, you may have noticed that David Puig (team Fireballs) is using a non-MNML bag at the US OPEN this week.

So here’s what happened. 

We were in the process of making a new batch of, specifically designed from player and caddy feedback, M TOUR bags for the team when we found out that they would not be in a position to pay for them.

We were offered to supply the bags for free.

We declined - based on our standard of “no free bags”.

Free bags were offered by another brand.

And that’s the end of the story. 

Sort of.

I think it’s going to take some time for our approach to be fully appreciated. 

As much as I value relationships and using recycled materials, the traditional endorsement deals and paid sponsorships are going to be here for a while. 

I know that we are starting to see a shift in the way things are done and I’m grateful to be representing that change through our standards. 

I know that players are starting to experience the value of relationships over free products.

I see on a daily basis how MNML GOLF is able to support players with more than just a golf bag.

And I know that this way of doing business is better for the player, and the planet. 

So, that’s the full end of the story. The new story of relationship based partnerships vs. paid endorsements is coming. Stay tuned :)
