MNML GOLF is about more than just an innovative product.
Don't get me wrong, I love innovating to make the best, most functional and highest quality bags. But at the end of the day, MNML as a company is a huge part or our lives. Probably the biggest part if I'm being honest.
So when it comes to our lives, I want the same thing for everyone involved with MNML that I want for myself; Fun, Creative, and Fulfilling work that serves more than just us.
Our team is talented, curious, open-minded, and a little obsessed with getting better. That's why we read a book together every single month.
No, not in a stuffy book club kind of way. More like: let’s fill our brains with good stuff, talk about it over coffee, and see what sticks.
We’ve read over 20 books as a team so far. Some were just okay. A few changed everything.
Here are the top three that had the biggest impact on how we think, how we work, and how we build golf bags that are anything but ordinary.
1. Let My People Go Surfing – Yvon Chouinard
“The more you know, the less you need.”
This one hit home. Not just because Yvon’s a fellow surfer, but because it’s a call to build with purpose.
The way Patagonia turned environmental responsibility into a non-negotiable part of its business inspired how we think about materials, durability, and not creating landfill waste with short-term trends.
The Big takeaway:
A company can care deeply and still win. In fact, maybe that’s why it wins.
2. Shoe Dog – Phil Knight
“Don’t tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and let them surprise you.”
Nike’s origin story is messy, intense, and crazy relatable to us.
Maybe because, through reading the book we all kind of realized that Phil Knight didn’t know what he was doing.
This book showed us that doubt, chaos, and last-minute miracles are par for the course.
Big takeaway:
Grit matters more than polish. Believe in the thing you’re building—even when no one else does yet.
3. Little Black Stretchy Pants – Chip Wilson
“You can’t build an authentic brand by trying to be everything to everyone.”
Chip didn’t invent yoga pants, but he sure made people want to wear them.
This one pushed us to be bolder with our voice, more specific with our vision, and unapologetic about what makes MNML different.
Big takeaway:
When you know your customer—and your culture—every product tells a story.
This month we are reading Creativity, Inc.
We’ll keep reading.
Keep evolving.
Keep showing up every day to build something that feels like us.
And if you’ve got a favorite book that lit a fire under your brand or business?
Drop us a line. We’re always down to learn. Sam@mnmlgolf.com
